A central Michigan dam that failed Tuesday had its license revoked in 2018 by federal regulators, who cited the dam owner’s failure to address safety issues.

The Edenville dam, located in Gladwin and Midland counties, is one of two operated by Boyce Hydro Power LLC that were overwhelmed Tuesday by rising floodwaters from the nearby Tittabawassee River. The river was expected to crest at a record level on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
