A half-dozen top executives at Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. are leaving the struggling home goods retailer, an unusual shakeup by the company’s new leader during the critical holiday selling season.

Bed Bath & Beyond has been hobbled by the shift to online shopping and competition. After an extended search, the company hired Mark Tritton, a retail veteran and Target Corp.’s chief merchant, as chief executive, a role he took over on Nov. 4.
